As part of the meeting's Christmas Celebration, the First Day School performed John McCutcheon's "Christmas in the Trenches" (https://genius.com/Mccutcheon-john-christmas-in-the-trenches-lyrics).
About 16 members and attenders shared worship and a potluck Thanksgiving dinner at the meetinghouse on Thursday, November 22, 2018. Besides a bountiful array of side dishes, and a turkey roasted by Betty, there were hors d'oeuvres, desserts, a jigsaw puzzle, beautiful table settings, and lots of socializing. The cold, wet weather outside made the fire in the meeting room especially welcome. This is an annual event for many of us, where some years there are numerous friends and relatives as well as members and attenders. Sharing the cooking and the cleanup means no one is saddled with too
Our old windows were drafty, requiring the installation of plastic liners every winter and storm windows to be installed upstairs. Our new windows were delivered Thursday, Oct 25, and by Friday afternoon, all the windows on the back side of the newer addition were installed!
November 10-11, we will have our fall BBQ/Campout, with the BBQ starting around 5pm. All are welcome to attend; hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs and some sides provided. Additional sides are welcome but not required! Evening activities will include flashlight tag, marshmallow roasting, and singing around the campfire. Those who want to stay overnight can set up a tent in the field or spread out a pad and sleeping bag on the floor of the First Day School room. We will have breakfast on Sunday morning for those who stay overnight.
An injury to an undocumented worker can spell disaster. The worker may not be able to pay for medical care or get worker's compensation, yet have little legal recourse. The worker's family may have no income while the worker is unable to work. Framingham Friends Meeting has set up a fund to contribute to expenses for injured workers through the Metrowest Worker Center in Framingham (http://www.mwc-casa.org/), If you would like to contribute to the fund, you can mail a check to Framingham Friends Meeting Treasurer, 841 Edmands Rd, Framingham, MA 0170
