Please post only Hanover Friends Meeting/Quaker Activities.
From 1946 - 1950, an American conscientious objector volunteered with the Quaker Ambulance Unit in China during its violent civil war. Just imagine being a first-person witness to this revolution that would permanently reshape world geo-politics! Frank Miles fascinating story of ministering to both sides of the conflict has been carefully researched by his daughter and St. Johnsbury resident, Cathy Miles Grant.
Please join us to hear Cathy retell her father's compelling story of trying to make the world a little more peaceful in the midst a war-torn country.
Dear Friends,
As clerk of the Sister Cuba Meeting Committee I am so pleased to share some exciting, happy news for us to take joy in.
Last March, at our Noche Cubana social event, Penny Wright, a juried quilter and meeting member, invited members and attenders to design and make a quilt square which she would then sew into a wall hanging as a gift from our meeting to our sister meeting in La Habana. So many folks wanted to make a square that Penny ended up making TWO colorful wall hangings which will be sure to brighten up the Iglesita, the 'little church', on Calle 43 in the Marianao district of the city.
Library News: Our library now has a small section under the window for books on cultural diversity for children of any age. These are ready to circulate within the meeting. Please return to the library any material not returned over the past year, or let Sarah and the library committee know that you are still using it.
