Kali led Friends in a meeting for learning with three guests, Tennesseans who are involved with Braver Angels, a grassroots effort to heal partisan divides in American society through a series of structured workshops, debates, and other events. Silence creates its own tensions, it fluctuates like waves; after every high there is a low; even soft murmurs as its waves dissipate toward the shore. You may step into the pool of silence denuded and in pain but you will emerge from it restored in truth and peace.

At the November 21 meeting for learning, the Nominating Committee led worship sharing around the following queries with regard to how Friends engage in committee work. These queries are borrowed from a renewal process recently used in SAYMA M&N, with that process facilitated by Atlanta Friend Mary Ann Downey:

Quaker Voluntary Service has opened its application season. Over the years, a few young people from the area have found their way to our meeting as they went through the process of applying for QVS and preparing to serve in one of the QVS cities - Atlanta, Boston, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and Portland.
