News & Announcements
The Justice Working Group is planning to be at the Pride Kick-off event at the Benjamin Hooks Library, September 2, from 11 to 2 (https://memphislibrary.evanced.info/signup/EventDetails?EventId=67213&backTo=Calendar&startDate=2023/09/01).
Memphis Friends were a bingo square for attenders at the Memphis Library's Pride Kick-off. Susan organized a colorful marbleized bookmark activity for children and children-at-heart. We also brought along some of the books we share with our children in First Day School, as well as a new copy of the Bayard Rustin biography to donate to the library collection. This was Memphis Friends' third year to participate, and our first chance to witness the children's parade!
Nine Friends and family contributed video clips for this year's video for the Benjamin L. Hooks Library's Pride event on September 4. Happy Pride!
Memphis Friends Meeting is also contributing a gift certificate to the in-person portion of the event. The gift certificate to Hidden Springs Nursery is in memory of Hector Black.
Mid-South Pride this year was small and quick. Here's to next year's Pride - may it be large and last the whole day!
At the April business meeting, Friends approved the commitments accompanying the meeting's minute on Gender and Sexuality Equality. Below is the full minute.
