On Sunday, January 3, George Lakey joined Adult RE to speak about social class and political polarization (feeling led to share something different than what was originally advertised as being about Quakers and social class). Because of some technical difficulties, the session started a bit late, and the recording even later, but you can find most of it here  Attached to this post is a graph George had originally planned to share showing the correlation between income inequality and political polarization.

Cuddle up in your PJ’s with your “inner child,” or gather your children & grandchildren around you no matter how far away they are and listen together to stories of how people from all over celebrate this time of year, accompanied by seasonal music. Short stories for little ones at the beginning of the evening, finishing with A Child’s Christmas in Wales.

The Refugee Support working group is bent on fundraising for LIFELINE for Syrian refugees whilst encouraging Friends to have fun. 10 cooks within the Meeting are lined up, rolling pins at the ready, to serve both refugees and Quakers.  It's simple.  Choose your filling from the attached flyer, and send in your order!  Additional fillings might well be available upon request, e.g. chocolate pecan pie or chocolate chess pie, but only in limited quantities.
Have a happy and delicious Thanksgiving!!

Our meeting has received two documents from the Fellowship of Friends of African Descent (FoFAD), the founders of the Ujima Friends Peace Center in North Philadelphia:  a cover letter, and their Minute on State Sanctioned Violence. The Ad Hoc Committee strongly endorses these ideas, which are full of heart and deeply grounded in Quaker Spirit. We share this with our Chestnut Hill meeting community for our thoughtful consideration. We trust that we can find ways to support this effort.
