Together we nurture the spiritual vitality of Friends

News & Announcements

In the Light newsletter introduces the new Sunday childcare provider : Maria Teresa Anez Moronta.  She has just graduated with a master’s degree in clinical social work at Southern CT State University.  Her story is HERE.

All adults (not just parents) are encouraged to feel empowered to remind kids of these norms as needed.  It is part of integrating kids fully into our community.  Please email Katie ([email protected]) if you have feedback or additional suggestions.  We'll be posting a list of norms soon, and will revisit as needed.

Please join us at 10:15 each Sunday before Meeting for Worship for a First Day School Circle.  In the Circle, adults and children connect for a moment of quiet and fellowship.  We sing songs and share rituals.  All members of our community (not just those with children) are encouraged to attend. At 10:30, children wishing to stay for the first 15 min are welcome.  Others will transition to lessons with teachers and loving child care.  We have several teachers this year to meet the needs of different age groups.

The Fall 2016 session of First Day School is underway for the children in our meeting.

The presence of our children is an important part of New Haven Friends. Each Sunday, children are with their parents for the first 15 minutes of Meeting for Worship; then they may join First Day School classes or remain in Meeting for Worship. Parents play a central role in First Day School, and along with other experienced adults from Meeting, provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.
