AFSC [American Friends Service Committee] is asking for special gifts to support the people of the migrant caravan who are fleeing violence and poverty.  They are in the early stages of building a response.  They are coordinating with others as they work at the Guatemala-Mexico border with short-term humanitarian needs.  They are accompanying one of the Caravans in Chiapas and doing human rights monitoring.  The AFSC continues its established work in Tijuana and San Diego, and are working in Washington, DC with other faith leaders to push back on militarized enforcement policies.  

 Meeting for Business on November 11, approved supporting this effort.  If you are able to contribute, please send a check to our treasurer, Kate Stuart, by Dec. 1.  Checks can be made to Cannon Valley Friends Meeting and designated for AFSC.  The Meeting will then send one check.
