For years I have been trying to understand this and to explain it to other people. Here is a somewhat philosophical introduction to somatic theory that provides some insight. It also makes sense of the early Quaker reference to empty forms.

The Peace and Social Concerns committee of Carlisle Monthly Meeting has a leading to promote The Conversation Project, a program to help families talk about end of life issues. Also included is the response from the Peace and Social Concerns committee to this issue.
