Exploring the Quaker Way: The series begins in January

- Margo Tassi

Adult Religious Education’s “Exploring the Quaker Way” begins on January 28 with Carolyn McCoy facilitating a discussion of Pendle Hill Pamphlet 296, “Testimony of Integrity” by Wilmer Cooper. Pamphlets can be ordered at the ARE table in the Cherry Street Room in early January, purchased online, or downloaded from Kindle.

All programs in the series will meet in the Lucretia Mott Room (off the Cherry Street Room); they will start at 1 PM and end at 2:30 PM. The series will meet on the fourth Sunday of each month, except for the May program which is scheduled for first Sunday in May.

At the request of last year’s participants, Barry Scott and .O are continuing programs they started last year.

We thank the following Meeting members for facilitating the scheduled programs:

Jan. 28:  Carolyn McCoy, “Testimony of Integrity” by Wilmer Cooper (PHP 296)

Feb. 25:  Francis Elling, “Speaking Out of the Silence” by Douglas Steere (PHP 182)

March 25:  Barry Scott, “Beyond Consensus” by Barry Morley (PHP 307)

April 22:  .O, “Members One of Another” by Tom Gates (PHP 371)

May 6:  Lee Junker, “Spirit Led Eldering” by Margery Larrabee (PHP392)

The purpose of these programs is to ground us all in our Quaker roots and facilitate discussions about where we are, and where we are going. ARE hopes that these programs will also explore the Meeting’s concern for issues of racial justice.

We invite all members and attenders to be part of “Exploring the Quaker Way” this year. If you are unable to read the pamphlets ahead of time, please don’t let that stop you from attending.
