COVID-19 (Coronavirus) RESPONSE - Meetinghouse Worship suspended; see below for virtual worship opportunities

These are challenging and anxious times. We feel deeply a need for community and mutual care but are being advised to practice social distancing to prevent contagion. In light of the advice from medical experts and after listening to Friends, both in our own Chatham Summit community and in the wider Quaker world, we have decided to temporarily suspend our in-person worship and gatherings at the meetinghouse until further notice.

But not having worship together in the meeting house does not mean that we will stop functioning as a meeting. Our meeting community and our care for one another will continue in new and different ways. We will still have the opportunity to participate in the Quakerism 101 series via Zoom video connection, and we will have two options for worship together each week that will enable us to sink into that same Divine space we feel when we are together in the meeting room.

We are open to other means to communicate with one another.

Here are some of the ways our community will gather in the coming week.

Wednesdays – Virtual Worship at 7:30 PM– John Walz will lead virtual worship from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, which will include time to share joys and concerns.

Sundays - Virtual Worship at 11:00 AM - Suzanne Mandala will lead virtual worship from 11:00 to 12:00, including time for sharing joys and concerns.

Due to concerns about "Zoom-bombing" please use the contact link for more information on connecting.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are a multi-generational community with a diversity of spiritual backgrounds, who support one another in our individual spiritual journeys. We offer opportunities for worship and spiritual growth as well as opportunities for involvement and social action.

Our gathered, silent worship is a place of quiet reflection, where we listen for the guidance of the divine. In worship we are strengthened to live joyfully, to work for peace and social justice, and to reflect our values in our daily lives.

We value our Quaker traditions of equality, non-violence and simplicity, and we strive to be a community that welcomes all without regard to race, age, background, sexual preference or gender identity.
