RE Committee seeks First Day School Coordinator

FDS Term: September 2017 through June 2018 (10 months - no classes Jul. & Aug.)
Supervisor: Clerk, Religious Education (RE) Committee
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Prepare curriculum overview (e.g. monthly/quarterly themes) for the school year in consultation with the teachers and approved by the RE co mmittee
- Support all levels of First Day School (FDS) curriculum, grades K-12 divided into three groups
- Teach one FDS group at least three Sundays per month to allow attendance at Meeting for Worship if desired. Alternate possibility would be to rotate a mong classes
- Coordinate FDS teachers and teaching schedules
- Work with RE committee to make sure scheduled teachers and assistants are in place on Sunday mornings
- Provide guidance for teachers and assist them in carrying out the curriculum
- Communicate with parents and the newsletter about events and activities as needed
- Attend regular monthly RE committee meetings
Qualifications:
- Interest in and experience with teaching children and teens
- Experience managing volunteers helpful
- Availability to spend approximately 4 hours per week on FDS Coordinator responsibilities, to include preparation and one hour teaching on Sunday mornings
- Understanding of and/or experience with the Religious Society of Friends and children’s programming
- Well organized, self-directed, flexible, dependable, and responsible
- Criminal and child abuse clearances required; fees will be reimbursed by CHFM
Compensation: $400/month for ten months; July & August excluded
