RE Committee seeks First Day School Coordinator

FDS Term: ​ September 2017 through June 2018 (10 months - no classes Jul. & Aug.)
Supervisor: ​ Clerk,​ ​ Religious Education (RE) Committee

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Prepare curriculum overview (e.g. monthly/quarterly themes) for the school year in consultation with the teachers and approved by the RE co​ mmittee
  • Support all levels of First Day School (FDS) curriculum, grades K-12 divided into three groups
  • Teach one FDS group at least three Sundays per month to allow attendance at Meeting for Worship if desired. Alternate possibility would be to rotate a​ mong classes
  • Coordinate FDS teachers and teaching schedules
  • Work with RE committee to make sure scheduled teachers and assistants are in place on Sunday mornings
  • Provide guidance for teachers and assist them in carrying out the curriculum
  • Communicate with parents and the newsletter about events and activities as needed
  • Attend regular monthly RE committee meetings

Qualifications:

  • Interest in and experience with teaching children and teens
  • Experience managing volunteers helpful
  • Availability to spend approximately 4 hours per week on FDS Coordinator responsibilities, to include preparation and one hour teaching on Sunday mornings
  • Understanding of and/or experience with the Religious Society of Friends and children’s programming
  • Well organized, self-directed, flexible, dependable, and responsible
  • Criminal and child abuse clearances required; fees will be reimbursed by CHFM

Compensation: $400/month for ten months; July & August excluded
