Settling into the new building

Do you have questions or comments about the new building? Love something, can’t find something or make something work, notice that the lights don’t turn off? Put a note in the “Building joys and concerns” box in the Gathering Room, or email concerns@chestnuthillquakers.org. Meg, Dylan and others will make sure your question or observation gets to whoever needs to know.

Right now you need to know:

  • The new plants need watering. If you can help, download instructions.
  • We are learning how to handle sound in the meeting room. If you have trouble, sitting near the front seems best, and/or try one of the listening devices. Friends need to do your best to speak loudly and clearly. And if you are listening, please sit as still as possible; laughter and shuffling can sometime drown out vocal ministry even in the best settings.
  • Parking – if you are able-bodied and not bringing small children or bulky objects, consider parking in UCP’s lot.
  • If your group is meeting in off hours, make sure you know how to lock up. Check every door that you or someone in your group used.
  • Lights programming needs to be adjusted. When it is working the labeled switches near the front door will turn off all the lights. In order to be environmentally sound and to respect our neighbors, please turn off ALL lights before you leave. The “exit” signs will remain on.
