"An Unsung Hero of Black History: Austin Steward" by Chester Freeman
In recognition of Black History Month, Chester Freeman, retired college and hospital chaplain from Geneva, New York, will speak at the Clearwater Friends Meeting on Sunday Feb. 16, 2020 from 9:15 to 10AM about Austin Steward, a slave from upstate New York who has not received critical acclaim. Chester Freeman is trying to rectify this situation by highlighting the significant contributions that he made to our country and the world. Come join us and find out how a baby boy born into slavery grows up to become one of the leading abolitionist along with Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. Austin Steward is one of the unsung heros in Black American history.
Vistors are welcome to stay for our Worship Meeting at 10 am.
