The Ministry and Council Committee has recommended that we suspend our use of Dunedin Scottish Arts Foundationl through April 12th. There is no implication that our use will resume on any particular date; we will reevaluate in April when more is known.

From the Clerk, Rick Brice

Friends, Increasingly, we are being encouraged to avoid gatherings in order to help reduce the possibility of contracting the Corona virus.  After consulting with several Friends, it seems prudent for us to suspend meetings at the DSAF hall for a while in order to determine the progress of the current situation.  We would encourage you to enter into silence at home during our normal time for worship on First Day. Although we will not physically be present with one another, we certainly can join together in spirit.

Our weekly Meeting for Worship is held each First Day (Sunday) 10:00 - 11:00 A.M.
Youth Program Available

We meet at the Dunedin Scottish Arts Foundation Hall
1134 Douglas Avenue, Dunedin, FL 34698

Our Meeting accepts that not everyone has the same journey of faith, and that each of us may express our spiritual beliefs in different ways. You will find no written dogma, nor will you be asked to recite a prayer or sing a hymn that expresses someone else's beliefs. We strive to listen to the "still small voice within" for guidance in all our meetings.

Quaker Meeting for Worship is a vibrant silence of waiting in expectancy. The silence is not an emptiness crying out to be filled, but a disciplined and contemplative openness to the Spirit of God. Our practice is to listen attentively to the harmony of the silent waiting and to the ministry that may arise from the silence.

We value the testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community and equality.

The first step to peace is to stand still in the Light....George Fox, 1653

What's New

Inspired by "The Kindness Rocks Project" our young people and members of Meeting have been painting rocks. Here are the rules, according to the website at http://thekindnessrocksproject.com/

GOAL #1: INSPIRE OTHERS THROUGH RANDOMLY PLACED ROCKS ALONG THE WAY…

GOAL #2: RECRUIT EVERY PERSON WHO STUMBLES UPON IT TO JOIN IN THE PURSUIT OF INSPIRING OTHERS THROUGH RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

Worship sharing focuses on a particular question and helps us to explore our own experience and share with each other more deeply than we would in normal conversation.

As a Meeting we have been addressing the matter of Moral Injury. Now, a national publication embraces this critical conversation with an article by the writer Peter Van Buren. His article addressing Moral Injury in the Nation, May 2017, can be found at this web address: https://www.thenation.com/article/who-pays-the-moral-price-of-war/

Benjamin B. Ferencz is a Hungarian born American lawyer, who, at age 97, is the last Nuremberg prosecutor alive. He has a special message for the world in this May 7, 2017 interview on CBS 60 Minutes. "War," he says, "makes murderers of otherwise decent people." And for all those concerned with peace, he says, "It takes courage not to be discouraged."

Friends and Attenders from Clearwater, Tampa and St. Petersburg Meetings met with Shahra Anderson, the regional representative for Senator Bill Nelson, at St. Petersburg Meeting on May 3, 2017. Discussion among the fifteen participants focused on the federal military budget with a concern that there be no increased military spending and that those resources instead by used to promote peace and to support improvements to the general health and welfare.
