An invitation from Carolina Friends School to Durham Friends to join the School community in these upcoming occasions.

As part of the Friends School community (even though we don't see you everyday), we hope you'll join us for any of the upcoming events!


Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration 2014

Monday, January 20, 10:30 am to noon, Gym

This year's theme is Lift Every Voice - social change through civil disobedience and non-violent protest."

Featuring keynote speaker Bob Zellner, civil rights activist; US dance performance and jazz ensemble; community choir; and an art installation.

Carolina Friends School invites all DFM members to our MLK celebration on main campus.  It is recommended that you arrive between 10:00 - 10:15 in order to find parking. 


Community Screening of Girl Rising

Documentary screening, panel discussion, and Afghan-themed refreshments


Fostering Leadership for Change

Thursday, January 30, 7:00-8:30 pm, Upper School Meeting Hall

Join Shan Cretin, the General Secretary of the American Friends Service Committee, and hear how the work of the AFSC promotes change.


Valentines Social

Saturday, February 15 from 7:00-10:30 pm, the old Murphey School

Need a night out? Come connect with new and longtime friends, and enjoy delicious appetizers, beer/wine, desserts.  We are thrilled to be able to hear live music from Maddog Blues Band (Jamie Hysjulien, David Stewart, David Langham, Bill O’Connor, Alice and Bob Brower).

The Big Disconnect: Protecting Childhood and Family Relationships in the Digital Age 
Author Dr. Catherine Steiner-Adair will come to CFS to discuss her compelling book. The author comes with incredible insights into the challenges and opportunities technology brings.  Hear her ideas on turning tech into an ally for closeness, creativity, and community.  An encouraged read, regardless if you can join us!  Books are on sale at a greatly reduced price - $15 - in the Center office.

Save the date for FriendsFest 2014, a day of celebration featuring the musical talents of Carolina Friends School alumni, at the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw. This event is open to the public, so please invite all your friends!
