23rd Annual Vigil Against Violence & Reception

We will honor and remember Durham's victims of fatal violence and their survivors. Parents of Murdered Children Chapter co-chair, Diane Jones, will deliver the message. Your presence offers hope for our city. All are welcome.
Last year 25 people were taken from us by violence. They are (name/age): Jaeden Sharp, 9; Antonio Dixon, 33; Alfredo Jobel, 28; Kourtney Krista Dawson, 25; Carolyn Robinson Hemingway, 62; Jeffery Lamar Dawes, 21; Christian Pittman, 9 (unintentional); Shontina Nakeisha Williams, 37; Abdur Rasheed Ali Muslim II, 26; Juan Carlos Ruiz. 27; Marquise Keshawn Mangum, 18; Derek Huggins Jr, 19; Kent Torrey Hinkson, 71; Rakwon Smith, 18; Breon McCallum, 18; Haywood Jabbar Downey, 34; Marcus Anthony Keith, 24; Armani Hodges. 4; Willie Shon Sadler, 43; Jawad Ali Razai, 18; Shareef Abdul Muhammad, 29; Heriberto Dondiego, 48; Kenneth Bernard Covington. 26; Delonta Hart, 16; Holly Martez Lyons, 25.
82% of victims, with cause known, died from gunshot wounds.
