Labyrinth Walk and Fire Circle

Earthcare Witness Labyrinth Walk and Fire Circle: Worship with Attention to Nature

Friday, October 18, at 6:00 PM off campus at 207 Hickory Hollow Rd, off Mt. Sinai Rd.

Please join us for an early October walk and fire circle at a beautiful wooded labyrinth near Mt. Sinai Rd. in Durham County. Each fall for the last three years the Earthcare Witness Committee has welcomed the fall season by offering a labyrinth experience- an opportunity to use silent reflection and worship sharing in a lovely natural setting.

Bring a flashlight and a camp chair if you prefer not to sit on a stump for the fire circle. Insect repellent is advised. Directions to the labyrinth: The labyrinth is at the home of Jill Over and Tom Mitchell, just off Mt. Sinai Rd at Twin Mountain Rd/207Hickory Hollow Rd.

From Durham:

• Take Erwin Rd in a southwesterly direction (toward Chapel Hill) starting at the roundabout at Academy Rd (751) and Erwin Rd.

• Travel 1.7 miles on Erwin Rd to the second light at Mt. Sinai Rd and turn RIGHT. (Large stone “Lochn’ora” sign on the left).

• Travel 2.1 miles on Mt. Sinai Rd to Twin Mountain Rd, which is a gravel road, and turn LEFT. (The road sign for Twin Mountain Rd is on the right-hand side of Mt. Sinai along with 5 mailboxes. It is 0.2 miles past Friends School Rd)

• Drive 0.4 mile on Twin Mountain Rd, bearing RIGHT when it forks to the left. Take the first driveway on your RIGHT at the sign “207 Hickory Hollow Rd”. Park on the left at the Visitor Parking sign. The labyrinth is up the driveway on the left.
