Beto Soto and Gia Del Pino will present information regarding immigration issues and sanctuary.  There will be time for questions and discussion.  All are welcome.

Dr. José “Beto" Soto is the founder of Madres Sin Fronteras. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Forest Resources and Conservation of the University of Florida. He holds a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Florida and he is also a leading expert in Econometrics and Natural Resources. Dr. Soto has 20 years of organizing experience. He has organized with farmworkers in Florida, as well as immigrant communities in Arizona. He is the former Co-President of the UF Graduate Assistants United and former Field Director of Citizens for a Better Arizona.

Gia Del Pino, is one the Lead Organizer's for Madres Sin Fronteras. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Fine Arts at the University of Florida. Her art, scholarship, and activism has always engaged with issues of immigration, memory and lost, oral history, and women's experience. She has won national awards in recognition of her student organizing; particularly for the "All Nighter for Haiti" campaign in 2008-2010 which raised around $40,000 to build sustainable tilapia farms in a rural town in Northern Haiti.
