Gainesville Quakers have recently joined with Quakers nationally, other faith groups, organizations, and individuals to endorse An Urgent Call to the Religious Society of Friends, and to work together in our local communities, states, and the nation to take critical actions to protect our democracy and prevent authoritarian takeover.  The four areas of focus are Defending Truth, Working for True Equality and Justice for All, Promoting Free and Fair Elections, and Preparing for Non Violent Resistance.  There have been three national zoom calls ("Conversations") so far, and two national Action Calls. The next call (the last one before the election) is Thursday, October 13, 2022, 7:00 - 9:00 PM ET.
