A Page to Learn and Share Resources and Personal Stories as we respond to the Urgent Call to the Religious Society of Friends

In response to the Urgent Quaker Call to Action, Gainesville Friends Meeting has been led to join with Quakers nationally, other faith communities, and especially with larger national and regional groups and organizations with a history of work in the areas of Defending Truth, Working for True Equality and Justice for All, Promoting Free and Fair Elections.  We have  endorsed  An Urgent Call to the Religious Society of Friends, and committed to work in our local communities, states, and the national arena to take critical actions to proactively protect our democracy. We have participated in the national Zoom Conversations and Quaker Calls to Action, including Active Bystander Intervention and De-Escalation:  Election Voter Center Situations. Video recordings and slide shows of all the Zoom sessions are available on the website, Quaker Call. 

Some of the groups and organizations members have joined or supported are NAACP, the League of Women Voters, Common Cause, and the Civic Listening Corps. we invite you to join us as we continue to work to deepen our relationships with outside groups and our ministry in the world.

The following Friends have volunteered to serve as points of contact for three of the arenas of action on the Call:

In addiiton to this webpage, these point persons will serve to be a contact to gather and disseminate resources, as well as gathering stories of individual and collective activism.
