Responsible for the general financial well-being of the Meeting and, along with the treasurer, for reporting the financial state to the Meeting.

Prepares a proposed annual budget for the Meeting and presents it for approval at the meeting for business in May.

Budget preparation:

     In January contacts committee clerks who have line items in the general fund to ask for their budget requests for the following fiscal year.      Ask clerks for justification of any requested increases so that the amounts and the justification can be presented to the meeting business sessions simultaneously.

     Prepare the initial draft of the proposed budget. Consider each line item, the continuing need for it, and whether the amount should be changed. Consider any new financial needs of the meeting. Present this draft for consideration at the meeting for business.

Present the budget for approval in May.


Assesses the financial health of the Meeting and advises Meeting when decisions are needed. Assists committees that have significant financial responsibilities, as needed.


Recommends investments.


Composes and distributes the annual fund appeal letter.
