This is the “off-year” of our weekend Meeting retreat, held every two years at Powell House in New York state. Not wanting to miss out on the fellowship and inspiration this year, we are bringing back something that was done many years ago—a one-day retreat at the meetinghouse for all ages.
As part of the program, we will hold a “Celebration of Creativity.” This is a kind of show-and-tell where you may share something that you have created: a poem or other writing, a song, sewing, knitting, a photograph, painting, other work of art, etc. We will display items in the main meeting room, and each person will have an opportunity to briefly share about their creation. (Note: this is optional, not required.)
A simple lunch will be provided. The morning will be inter-generational (including the creativity fair), and the afternoon with have a separate children’s program.
For the afternoon adult program, we will watch and reflect on the inspiring, thought-provoking 2014 Swarthmore Lecture, “Open For Transformation: Being Quaker" by Ben Pink Dandelion.
