New England Yearly Meeting gathered August 1–6, 2015, for our 355th Annual Sessions, at the beautiful campus of Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont.
Note that funds to facilitate attending are available from Hartford Meeting Conferences Encouragers Committee--contact Brigid Kennedy or Beth Morrill.
The theme for this year's Sessions was "Living Into Covenant Community", exploring what it means to be a community of faith gathering from throughout New England, united in the presence and guidance of the Spirit. Our Yearly Meeting Bible Half-Hour presenter was Peterson Toscano. A former member of Hartford Friends Meeting, Peterson was active in NEYM as a Resource Person for Young Friends retreats, and several years ago he presented the Tuesday evening performance at Sessions. Now a member of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, he returned to New England in 2012 as the Bible Half Hour presenter for the Friends General Conference Gathering held in Kingston, Rhode Island. Peterson’s theological explorations include LGBTQ and gender issues, but have also expanded to address climate change and environmental justice.
Anchor Groups had their own dedicated time slot in this year's schedule, Our traditional Coffee House was held on Tuesday evening this year, instead of bringing in an outside performer, and—back by popular demand!—we anticipate having a contra-dance on Wednesday evening.
