Great Plains Yearly Meeting, June 1-4, 2017
The 110th annual sessions of the Great Plains Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends will be held June 1 through 4, 2017 at Heartland Friends meetinghouse, 14505 W Sandwedge Circle, Wichita, Kansas. The theme will be “Unifying Our Community With Courage and Love To Move Forward Together. The keynote speaker will be C. Wess Daniels, Director of Friends Center and Quaker Studies at Guilford College, Greensboro, North Carolina. who has been a full-time Quaker minister, educator, researcher and public theologian, and has been working toward cultivating renewal among all branches of the Religious Society of Friends. Keynote addresses will be on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. and Friday at 7:00 p.m. He will lead an evening participatory workshop on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon workshops include a Friends Committee on National Legislation Panel facilitated by Connie Adams and Dorlan Bales, “Visitation - Deepening Relationships and Making New Friends” led by Laura Dungan and Cliff Loesch and a celebration welcoming Topeka Friends Meeting to Great Plains Yearly Meeting. On Sunday morning there will be a program at 9:30 a.m. on “Stories to Songs: Wisdom of the Elders” led by Young Friends (Middle and High School) and Aaron Fowler followed by worship after the manner of Friends with Heartland Friends Meeting.
