Potluck Supper: Non-theism Among Friends
In recent years some Quakers refer to themselves as non-theists. Just as with any other belief system or spiritual way, this term can mean different things to different individuals. One common theme among non-theists is a rejection of supernaturalism – a God who makes things happen and who grants requests made via prayer. Some describe themselves as having a non-supernatural spirituality. For many, non-theism is not the same as atheism.
At Friday’s potluck Betsy Neale will discuss what non-theism means to her and why she has come to call herself a non-theist Friend. A question often asked is “Can non-theists have leadings?” Betsy would say they certainly can. She welcomes others sharing their perspectives and experiences regarding spirituality.
