Dear Friends:

World Quaker Day, October 6, is a big day for Friends all across the globe. In past years some monthly meetings have planned special ways of celebrating as Medford Monthly Meeting has done.

This year, our meeting has decided to expand the celebration into a full week of events.  Here’s a taste of what’s happening. The week actually begins on Saturday Oct. 5 with a tour of our 1814 Meetinghouse and a walking tour of historic places in Medford Village. 1:30pm

Then on Sunday, we welcome all to our regular 10 a.m. worship, and to a special evening 6:30 showing of the exceptional film, Friendly Persuasion, featuring the Quaker peace testimony.   (Yes, we’ll have popcorn!)

Food and fellowship is on the bill for Wednesday evening worship (with pizza) at 6 p.m.

Then on Friday it’s Music in the Meetinghouse, fun for everyone, 7:15 Raising River Band 

Sunday, October 13 caps a full and joyful week, Medford Meeting invites Friends Meetings to join us for worship and a family (brown bag) picnic in our new outdoor "gathering space."  You bring a sandwich (or two) and we’ll do dessert and beverages. If the weather does not cooperate, we’ll celebrate indoors.

We are also extending an invitation to the general public for this week’s events. If you have new Friends or old friends, encourage them to come learn about our Quaker tradition of worship and of the size and scope of our region’s Quaker community.

If your meeting will join us for worship and a picnic on Oct.13, please contact our meeting office (609-953-8914 or info@medfordfriendsmeeting.org) by September 20 so that we may plan for the number of F/friends coming to share the celebration.
