Leaps and Flight
During the May 1 worship, the following passage and query were shared:
When I took the leap, I had faith I would find a net; instead I learned I could fly.
— John Calvi, 1994
How do my needs for control and security interfere with my faith journey?
John Calvi is a Quaker healer and massage therapist.
Several Friends shared messages about risk taking, discovery of one's spiritual gifts, and the spirit of the song Morning Has Broken (which had been sung three times in the meetinghouse earlier, at various Friends' request).
For a copy of the spiritual gifts named by Quaker Marianne Lockard, see the PDF below. Many years ago, Marianne led Memphis Friends in a weekend retreat focused on discovering these gifts within ourselves.
