Miami's Climate Reality

Our Luca Marazzi is going to lead meeting for learning this firstday. He will present a selection of slides from Al Gore's 2015 Miami Climate Reality training on how the human-enhanced greenhouse effect is increasing temperatures worldwide, exacerbating heat waves, floods, droughts, and causing sea level rise; and on how human beings are coping and can ultimately solve the serious global climate change challenge, for example, by shifting energy production to renewable sources.
Dr. Luca Marazzi works as a Postdoctoral Associate in Dr. Evelyn Gaiser's lab at Florida International University's Southeast Environmental Research Center. He has a PhD in Freshwater Ecology from University College London and an MSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Milano Bicocca. His current research focuses on the biodiversity and ecology of algae, indicators of environmental change, in major subtropical wetlands, such as the Everglades and the Okavango Delta. He studied and worked on bird migration, air quality, climate change, and biodiversity in Italy, where he also volunteered at the Ecoinstitute TerreMutanti of Milan and WWF. In 2003 and 2009, he participated in the COP9 and COP15 United Nations conferences on Climate Change with the British NGO Responding to Climate Change, and last year he has become a member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps.
