Parking is free during the picnic; and Brian has parking passes for those who wish to explore Wilton Manors into the evening.

 

Picnic Schedule:

 

11 A.M.:

Meeting for worship in the pavilion.

You are welcome to bring cushions or pads for the picnic benches, or folding chairs.

 

12 Noon:

Potluck picnic lunch: FLFM will provide coffee a 30-cup coffee maker, some plastic ware, paper plates, and paper and plastic cups.

Others are encouraged to bring plates, cups, and utensils as well.

You are welcome to bring washable plates, cups, and tableware, and wash them at home.

 

After Lunch: a discussion session is planned, to focus on the following topic:

In our areas, how can we form alliances ethnic communities and religious minorities to weather the current political climate?

 

Driving Directions:

 

1. Directions from Miami: approximately 55 minutes and 34 miles

 

Drive north on I-95 for approximately 15 miles.

Merge onto W Sunrise Blvd/FL-838 E via EXIT 29A

 

Continue driving east on W. Sunrise Blvd. for 1.9 miles.

Note: track the signs carefully: drive eastward on WestSunrise Blvd.

 

Turn left onto Wilton Drive / NE 4th Ave/FL-811, and drive for 1 mile.

   Wilton Drive / NE 4th Ave / is just past NE 3rd Ave.

                   NE 5th Terrace is too far.

 

Turn left onto NE 20th St.

   NE 20th St is just past NE 19th St.

 

Landmarks: Tropics Piano Bar & Restaurant is on theright side of NE 4th Ave., across from your turn at NE 20th St. An additional landmark is the Dairy Queen to the right of Tropics.

 

Immediately turn left into the park entrance for Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve.

After you park, follow the chain-link fence toward Wilton Drive to the left-most entry gate.

 

Enter the nature preserve; then follow the walkway past two house-like buildings and a gazebo to the picnic pavilion.

2. Directions from West Palm Beach: 56 minutes; 44 miles

 

Merge onto I-95 S (toward Miami) – 39 miles

 

Take the theFL-816/ Oakland Park Blvd. exit, EXIT 31.

Keep left to take the Oakland Park Blvd. E ramptoward Oakland Park/Wilton Manors

 

Turn left onto FL-816/NW 31st St. Travel 1.4 miles.

Turn right onto NE 6th AveTravel 0.7 miles.

        NE 8th Terrace is too far.

 

Turn right onto Wilton Dr/FL-811Drive for 0.3 miles.

Turn right onto NE 20th Street.

Your turn is across from Tropics Restaurant and Piano Bar, and a Dairy Queen.

 

The park entrance is the first left, directly across from a house at 401 NE 20th Street.

After you park, follow the chain-link fence to the left-most gate.

 

Enter the nature preserve; then follow the walkway past two house-like buildings and a gazebo to the picnic pavilion.

 

3. Directions from downtown Fort Lauderdale: 10 minutes; 2 miles

 

Drive North on N. Andrews Ave 0.9 miles

Turn Right (east) onto E. Sunrise Blvd./FL 838 – for 0.25 miles

 

Turn Left onto NE 4th Ave/FL 811 – for 1 mile

 

Turn left onto NE 20th St.

   NE 20th St is just past NE 19th St.

 

Landmarks: Tropics Piano Bar & Restaurant is on theright side of NE 4th Ave., across from your turn at NE 20th St. To the right of Tropics, there will be a Dairy Queen with a 12-story residential building behind it.

 

After you turn onto NE 20th St., take the very first leftinto the park entrance for Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve. The park entrance is directly across the street from a residence at 401 NE 20th St.

 

After parking, follow the chain-link fence toward Wilton Drive to the left-most entry gate.

 

Enter the nature preserve, then follow the walkway past two house-like buildings and a gazebo to the picnic pavilion.
