Our list of books is in the MFM Newsletter.  For more information contact Kepper Petzing (they)

Help with Discernment about possible

P&SC committee meeting
Sunday, November 13th, 12:15 pm

Worship Room & Zoom (blended)
How might Friends respond to the possible loss, which may be sudden, of the ability of Peace House to offer lunch in Laurelhurst Park? Does Multnomah Meeting have the capacity and desire to be a temporary emergency lunch program site for a limited period? Could lunch be served in the Social Hall? Peace & Social Concerns (P&SC) committee has offered part of their November meeting as a place we can identify leadings, issues, and concerns. Please come or contact Kepper Petzing  to send your thoughts.  For Zoom info check the bulletin or MFM website.

Movie Night At
Multnomah Friends Meeting!
Come From Away
Saturday, November 5, 6:30-9:00pm; film begins at 7:00
The Social Committee will be showing a film of the Broadway production of Come From Away. This is an uplifting musical about the Newfoundland town where 38 planes were diverted after the September 11 attacks. The story is based on true events and people. It is a testament to the nature of human kindness, portraying the town’s inhabitants quickly springing into action to feed and house thousands of stranded strangers.

Come be inspired! Families are welcome to attend, as the film is appropriate for ages about 10 and up. Childcare will be provided for younger children, if requested by Oct. 30. We will be following the Meetinghouse COVID guidelines, requesting all to be vaccinated and masked. With capacity in the Social Hall at 25, we ask that you RSVP to Ann Dudley:
503-736-9331. Thank you from the Social Committee.

Community Qigong on Zoom
Mondays at 9:30 to 10:30 am

$10-15 (sliding scale)

Qigong means "energy work." A moving meditation enriched mindfully with breath and imagery, this practice expands breath, heals organs and connects you with Self and Nature. Nourishing qigong forms are easy to follow and can be adapted for people dealing with acute or chronic needs and conditions.

Please join us Mondays for a comfy, safe hour of qigong in your own home. Connect with yourself, nature, and other Friends. Beginners and experienced students welcome. Zoom classes on Mondays at 9:30am. Contact Marian Dixon by email  with questions or for payment and current Zoom links.

Multnomah Meeting Announcements

Are You A Social Person?
The Social Committee
Seeks Members
After a period of relative inactivity during the pandemic, the Social Committee has sprung into action. It has been heartening to observe how folks have taken advantage of social hour every Sunday in the garden to reconnect with old F/friends and make new ones. If you would like to join the Social Committee and help with Sunday Social Hour a couple times a month, as well as with occasional special events, please contact the Nominating Committee:
nominating.clerk@multnomahfriends.org

Meetinghouse Nursery
Is Hiring
The nursery is hiring new staff. Please be 16 or older. Starting pay is $16/hr. Every Sunday morning is a 4-hour shift that starts at 9:45. Sometimes the shift ends after two or three hours, and nursery staff may leave early. But staff are always paid for a full 4-hr shift. Ideally, we'll have several people on staff, and no one has to work all or most Sundays unless they want to. If interested contact Ian Simpson, clerk of Nursery Committee, at 503-490-6941

First Day School Volunteer Teachers Needed
The Children's Committee is in need of volunteers to help teach our children at First Day School. We require two teachers each Sunday, so please consider helping! All volunteers are required to go through a screening process. For more information, please contact:
childrensprogram@multnomahfriends.org

Quaker Parent Mutual Support Groups
The Quaker parent mutual support groups provide a supportive forum for parents to talk about their parenting and their faith. Parents celebrate one another’s successes and provide fellowship for one another through difficulties. Each group has two co- facilitators whose own children are no longer living at home. The co-facilitators are responsible for structuring the conversations and emailing reminders about meetings. These groups are open to any Friend currently raising children under the age of 19. They are free. The groups will meet for one hour every other week for a total of 12 gatherings between November 2022 and April 2023. They will be conducted in English and on Zoom. The registration deadline is 11/1. For more info, go to
bit.ly/ 3TfUPvx.

Both print and PDF  $46
The low-income rate is $20 for either print only or PDF only or $30 for both print and PDF.

Assistance Fund Available (and needs replenishment)
Care and Counsel Committee administers Multnomah Meeting's Assistance Fund, which provides grants and loans to members and attenders who need financial help. If you are moved to make an individual (tax- deductible) donation to help rebuild the fund, please send an earmarked check to the Meeting Treasurer. If you need financial help, please contact Lyn Gordon, Care and Counsel Clerk.

Reserving Zoom or a room at the Meetinghouse
If your committee or group is interested in resuming in-person meetings at the Meetinghouse, please email the Hearthkeeper at hearthkeeper@multnomahfriends.org to reserve a space and to review our updated COVID-19 requirements for building users. Requests for a Zoom meeting may be sent to scheduler@multnomahfriends.org

Donating to Multnomah Meeting How can you support MMM financially? We have updated the website to show many ways you can give financial support. Look for the header "Resources" and it will be listed there. Questions? Contact Theresa at treasurer@multnomahfriends.org.

Air Filters in the Meetinghouse
One of the best things we can do to care for one another in the Meetinghouse during COVID is to use the air filters located throughout the building. All Friends are asked to share in this responsibility, and there are now conveniently labeled instructions on how to set the units to the highest setting on each one. The fan speed button is located to the right of the ON button. Press it twice after starting the unit. Whether the air conditioning is on or off, and the windows are open or closed, all the air purifiers need to be on the high setting. People should wear well-fitting N95 or KN95 masks when inside the building. Thank you! Submitted by the Hearthkeeper at
hearthkeeper@multnomahfriends.org.
