This is a list of all positions of responsibility and committees within Nashville Friends Meeting. If you have questions concerning the functions of any of these entities, feel free to inquire. All committees are open for members and nonmembers to attend and serve, except for Ministry and Counsel which often deals with confidential matters.

Positions of responsibility:

Clerk- not the leader of the meeting, but is the one who shepherds the agenda during business meetings

Assistant Clerk- takes the place of the Clerk when the Clerk is missing or when the Clerk needs to step aside of Clerk duties to present information as an individual

Recording Clerk- records the minutes of the business meeting

Treasurer- the only person with access to records of contributions to meeting

Assistant Treasurer- an additional person to the treasurer that has authority to write checks

Greeter Coordinator- makes sure there are people signed up to be the front-door greeeter each week

Beauty and Order Coordinator- oversees work days for facilities upkeep and assesses acute cleaning needs, etc.

Building Use Coordinators- facilitate rentals to outside groups wishing to use the building

Archivist- records vital records of marriages, births, membership, etc.

Meetings for Healing Coordinator- schedules and arranges for quarterly evening meetings for healing

HERO Tutoring Program Coordination- organizes individuals who tutor at the Salvation Army program for homeless students

Room at the Inn Coordinator- oversees activities in conjunction with Room at the Inn

Neighbor’s Reaching Out Representative- neighborhood association rep

FCNL Representative- responsible for letting our community know the activities and needs of the Friends Committee on National Legislation

SAYMA Representative- travels to Southern Appalachian Yearly Meeting and Association (SAYMA) meetings on our behalf

SAYMA Ministry and Nurtire Committee Representative- for many years we have had a representative on this committee which oversees the worshipful life of the meetings in the region

Web Clerk- responsible for this site

Mail Clerk- responsible for sending out any mailings by paper

Trustees- legal representatives of the meeting for purposes of liability

Committees:

Adult Education- sets the programming/schedule for discussion hours

Children’s Education- sets curriculum and assigns schedule for teachers in each age-group room

Southern Appalachian Young Friends (SAYF) Coordination- organizes travel for youth (12-18) to/from regional retreats

Finance- helps create and monitor budget

Hospitality and Special Events- organizes food/lodging for various functions such as regional gatherings, representative meetings, fall retreats, weddings, baby showers, etc.

Quaker Cottage- stewards the property across the street from the Meetinghouse that is owned by the meeting

House and Grounds- oversees the integrity and safety of the building and grounds

Library- oversees the upkeep of the print library

Alternatives to Violence Project- trainings and workshops on the topic of Alternatives to Violence

Ministry and Counsel- reponsible for the worshipful life of the meeting and the pastoral care of its individuals

Social Ministry- organizes the group efforts of the community to meet unaddressed social needs
