Allow us to introduce the current members of North Columbus Friends Meeting's Harassment Response & Safeguarding Committee (HRSC):

Brian, Clerk of HRSC (he/him): I’ve been a member of the meeting since 1985. I serve as clerk of Ministry & Nurture (as thus as clerk of HRSC), as clerk of First Day School Committee, and on Nominating Committee. I am a trustee. I have coordinated Seeking Quakers for about fifteen years, now as part of the Outreach and Inreach Committee. I am hopeful that HRSC will be instrumental in creating a culture of safeguarding within the meeting that is more aware of the harm that harassment causes to all and better prepared to confront behavior experienced as harassment wherever it might be encountered.

Brittany (they/them): Brittany has been active with North Columbus Friends Meeting for three years, previously in serval Meetings in Illinois for seven years. They have been clerk of Outreach/Inreach Committee working to plan events for a variety of attendees, as well as helping clerk the Adult Young Friends group. Being a part of HRSC is important to them because it's another action the Meeting is now taking to recognize the needs of all and help protect as well.

Christianna (she/her): I’ve been active with North Columbus Friends Meeting since 2019. I am the current Recording Clerk, co-clerk of the Adult Young Friends Group, and former member of the Peace and Social Action Committee. Being involved in HRSC is important to me as I have seen the social and spiritual impact of sexual misconduct and harassment in religious communities I’ve previously been involved in. I want to be part of creating an environment where everyone feels safe--physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Pat: Check back another time for more information about Pat.

Tom (he/him): I’ve been a member of NCFM since 2007. Roles in the Meeting have included as Clerk, Treasurer, and on Ministry & Nurture, Nominating, and Finance Committees. The  Anti-Harassment Policy we’ve created for our community is foundational and good for saying expectations “out loud.”

Please contact any of the Friends listed above if you have experienced or witnessed harassment, or if you have concerns about a situation where an event involves sexual abuse, discrimination, or harassment. Complaints will be handled promptly and confidentially.
