NYM Spring Interim Session 2020 NOW ONLINE
After much consultation and deliberation, we have decided to conduct NYM's interim remotely with videoconferencing technology to avoid putting people at risk. If this is your first news of this, we apologize -- it has been a scramble to get all our ducks in a row and reach out to folks on short notice. PLEASE help us get the word out -- forward this message on to anyone you know who might have been planning on attending -- and people who weren't but now perhaps can!
Below is the information you need to join our Interim session remotely, with either a computer or phone (smartphone required to use video). For anyone who has not used Zoom videoconferencing technology before, we encourage you to join us online on Friday night to work out the kinks -- that is our main business for the Friday session. We hope to have a smooth, efficient start on Saturday, and we are much more likely to do so if folks are familiar with the process. We will also start Saturday morning's Zoom call 15 minutes early to get as many people as possible online and knowing how to mute and unmute their mic, etc., before we are scheduled to begin.
Our Zoom sessions are scheduled for Friends to join as follows (we built some extra time with Zoom on either end just in case.)
We hope you'll take advantage of this special limited-time offer to join NYM's Interim Session in your pajamas from the comfort of your own home without driving anywhere! Since participation will be so easy, we hope some extra folks will join us -- our tech can accommodate up to 100 computers and phones at once. FGC tells us we may be the first YM to try this, so please help make it a success! We look forward to connecting with lots of you on Friday night and Saturday.

This information will also be posted on the NYM website: northernyearlymeeting.org
6:00-6:30 pm Friday night
10:30-12:30 Saturday morning (join up to 15 minutes early if you want time to get oriented and make sure everything works)
- 1:45-2:45 Saturday afternoon if Friends agree that we need more time to complete essential work
Below are the Zoom invitations and some video links for new users. You do not have to have Zoom on your computer to click into a meeting, but for some people the sound quality is much better if Zoom software is downloaded beforehand (free download - choose Zoom Client for Meetings). Note that if you dial in without video, you will not be able to see participants' faces, or documents that we put up on the screen. We will be mindful of the possibility of audio-only participants and will avoid having essential visuals. For our opening worship, there will be a brief quote that we will read aloud as well as show on the screen, and a reminder to mute your mic whenever you are not speaking.
