Northern Yearly Meeting holds its Annual Session each year on Memorial Day weekend (Friday-Monday) at the Lions Camp in Rosholt, Wisconsin. Annual Sessions Planning Committee coordinates the elements of the session.
At Annual Session we reconnect with old and new Friends from far and wide in Northern Yearly Meeting (NYM) for fellowship, and accomplish the business of the yearly meeting.
Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business is conducted by the clerk’s team in the mornings. The business of the Yearly Meeting includes using Quaker process to make decisions, and to hear reports from committees and representatives to connected concerns. Attendance is not mandatory.
Children and Youth programs take place during Business Meeting (mornings). At all other times parents are responsible for their own children (excepting those in the middle school and high school programs), or parents may coordinate childcare with other parents. Many activities for children occur during free time (afternoons) or in the evening – Capture the Flag, Frisbee, campfires, vespers, and our famous Talent Show.
Activities of special interest generally include an Intergenerational Welcoming activity on Friday night, a Plenary reflecting the session’s theme, Workshops and ad-hoc Interest Groups, Worship Sharing times, State of Society groups (where we find out what other NYM meetings are up to), singing, folk dancing or games in the evenings, a Talent Show and a panoply of outdoor activities offered at this beautiful camp (swim, boat, hike around the lake).
Interim Sessions
Spring and Fall Interim Sessions are hosted by one of NYM’s Meetings, and are intended to continue the business of the yearly meeting while gathering in fellowship. All are welcome to attend.
