Faith and Practice

Here is a link to Baltimore Yearly Meeting's Faith and Practice.  This is the main book we turn to for guidance on things Quaker.  This Faith and Practice was adopted when Baltimore Yearly Meeting was created from the union of the Baltimore Yearly Hicksite and Orthodox Meetings.  These meetings reunited after about a 150 year separation.  The Hicksite Friends gave greater authority to the Inward Light or Work of the Holy Spirit.  The Orthodox Friends gave greater authority to education.  The tension between the different authorities remains a part of Friends.  It is reflected in the two umbrella organizations we are part of - Friends General Conference (mostly Hicksite) and Friends United Meeting (mostly Orthodox).

Our Faith and Practice is a living document and is currently in the process of being revised.  After you click on the link, you will see a link to the latest proposed changes.
