The Meeting House

Public ContentAnyone can view this post

The Pennsdale Meetinghouse was built in 1799 of local stone. It retains much of its original charm. It has no plumbing. The privy (still used) was the subject of artist David Armstrong's watercolor "Up and Down." He also painted “The Quilter," Pennsdale Friend Marjorie Nicholson sewing in front of the fireplace at the Meetinghouse.

There is a ramp leading to the porch and we have a portable ramp to assist with wheelchair access. While the meetinghouse is wheelchair accessible, the privy is not.
