ROANOKE QUAKERS-UPCOMING EVENTS FOR OCTOBER & NOVEMBER 2020

Sorry about the delay in getting this out. The upcoming election has taken up a lot of my time.

Roanoke Friends Meeting has cancelled Meetings for Worship and other events at the Meetinghouse due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Friends are holding virtual Meetings for Worship on Sundays at 10:30 AM through Zoom conferences. Please contact us through a message at our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RoanokeQuakers/; our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1801286263228423/; or our Meeting email at quakersroanoke@gmail.com or our Meeting phone at 540-632-0094 for instructions about joining us through Zoom.

Friends are also holding virtual Midweek Meetings for Worship on second and fourth Wednesdays at 7 PM through Zoom conferences. Again, please contact us through the contact information above for instructions about joining us through Zoom.

Friends have switched the Religious Education program to first Wednesdays at 7 PM. They have switched the Meeting for Business to third Wednesdays at 7 PM. Again, please contact us through the contact information above for instructions about joining us through Zoom.

Outdoor Meeting for Worships are scheduled near the Gish House in Highland Park.  This was to support those Friends who can’t worship through Zoom.  Masks were required and social distancing observed.  They are being scheduled one at a time.  It’s possible they may be discontinued due to the cold weather.

A Quaker Reading Group has begun to meet monthly.  Contact Mike Heller at our Meeting email through the contact information above to join.

Finally, Roanoke Quakers will hold its annual “Welcome/Welcome Back Celebration” on November 4 at 7 PM.  The event is to welcome people interested in Quakers and welcome back people we haven't seen in a while.  We are especially encouraging Friends to invite their friends who might be interested in Quakers.  The Celebration will consist of worship for 15 minutes; three speakers who speak in turn about Friends beliefs, worship and service for 10 minutes each; and a question-and-answer period for 15 minutes.  This year we will do it through Zoom.

I have included the November calendar -or what I have of it -since it’s difficult to get out the upcoming month’s calendar sometimes.

Here is the schedule:
