Alternatives to Violence: Advanced Workshop
Note: to participate in this upcoming Advanced Workshop you must have taken the AVP Basic Workshop.
(To become a facilitator in Community or Prison workshops, one needs to take three: Basic, Advanced, and Training for Facilitators)
The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is an internationally practiced model to help people understand and constructively deal with the violence and the effects of trauma within themselves and others. It sprang from the work of inmates who reached out to New York State Quakers in the 1970s. For more information about the Alternatives to Violence Project refer to their website.
The Alternatives to Violence Project Advanced Workshop builds on conflict transformation skills learned in the Basic workshop. It is an opportunity for deep exploration of underlying causes of violence, in the world and in ourselves. Through consensus process, interactive exercises, affirmations and cooperative problem solving, we will find new, creative, non-violent ways to approach conflict.
