Nurturing faith and Quaker practice
"Walk cheerfully over the world, answering that of God in everyone." -George Fox

News & Announcements

Jan Stansel will be leading a discussion of "Four Doors to Meeting for Worship", a Pendle Hill pamphlet written by William Tabor. This might be helpful for people fairly new to Quaker worship, as well as deepening the worship for all of us old hands. Second Hour begins shortly after the rise of worship and announcements, around 11:45 and lasts for roughly one hour.

Because a number of people who are central to conducting business will be out of town on the 3rd Sunday, Ministry and Counsel feels it best to reschedule meeting for business to the 4th Sunday. Meeting for Worship for the Conduct of Business will be held on Sunday, October 22nd. The schedule will be as usual with waiting (silent) worship beginning at 10:00 and Clerk Brian reading the query at 10:40. If you have questions, you're welcome to email nfmclerk(at)gmail(dot)com or the clerk of M&C, Mary Linda, at friendlymama(at)aol(dot)com.

Ministry and Counsel has been in heavy discernment about Nashville Friends Meeting and where and how we are being called. We feel it is time to bring this work to our larger community. We would like to begin this by trying something new: A threshing session that will grow out of our next meeting for worship with attention to business on September 17th.

The Ministry and Counsel committee wants the community to know that scholarship funds for travel/registration/etc. at summer 2015 gatherings of Friends are available. This is for the Southern Appalachian Yearly Meeting and Association (SAYMA) in June and for the Friends General Conference (FGC) Gathering in July. Both are in western North Carolina this year.
