- Love books?
- Love bookstores?
- Love Quakers?
- Love to volunteer?
Then consider becoming a QuakerBooks "Bookista." While a barista is a person who typically works behind a counter serving espresso and other drinks, a QuakerBooks Bookista is someone who loves books and helps get them to other people who love them.
QuakerBooks of FGC, a walk-in and on-line bookstore at Pendle Hill, the Quaker retreat center in Wallingford, PA, is looking for bookistas. And there are in-store and off-site opportunities.
The store at Pendle Hill is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 to 4:00 and Saturdays from 10:00 to 4:00. QuakerBooks.org (and our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest sites) are open 24/7.
During a three hour-per-week shift a volunteer may do a variety of things, such as:
- unpacking and pricing books/other merchandize
- organizing orders
- working with our online and in-store book stock
- shelving new books
- writing book blurbs
- helping at evening and weekend book talks and signings
- social media
- write book descriptions (summary, author, publisher, etc) for inclusion in our website
Some of these tasks can be done remotely, so you don’t have to live in the Philadelphia area to be a QuakerBooks bookista and receive the bookista benefits.
One of the best parts of the job is simply chatting with our customers and other staffers about books, books, books! Come join our fun and dedicated team of QuakerBooks bookistas!
In exchange for working two three-hour shifts each month, we offer a nifty QuakerBooks t-shirt and a 20% discount on QuakerBooks purchases.
