Moving Day #1 done in record time

On a crisp and beautiful Saturday morning, more than 40 Friends assembled at the old meetinghouse to transport all the items that had been packed to the new meetinghouse. They used a fleet of station wagons, hatchbacks, mini-pickups, and another fleet of handtrucks of every description. The only paid professionals removed the two pianos from the old Social Room and took the newer, better piano (donated by Roberta Foss) to the new Social Room. The other piano went to a member's home, as did one bench from the worship room. The remaining benches are promised to Greene Street and Frankford Friends schools and to George School. The ones for Greene Street are for the school, not the monthly meeting (which is Green Street MM anyway -- no final E).

The assembled crew was so efficient that most of the work was done by about 10:30. Storm Evans, who had been planning this move for months, had said she thought we'd be done in an hour and a half, but no one else was quite that optimistic.

Because we'll still be worshiping in the old building at least for tomorrow, the worship room there now has the George School benches and folding metal chairs ready for our 9/8/13 meeting for worship.
