Keynote Speakers
Laurie Rocello Torres Laurie is a community organizer with GABRIELA Seattle, a collective of Filipinxs who do cultural and political education work around labor issues impacting Filipino migrant workers. She is also an active member of Got Green's Young Workers in the Green Movement. Her work with social justice began when she moved to Seattle in 2013 for a year long service fellowship with Puget Sound Sage after graduating with a degree in Organizational Communications from Bradley University. She has done work around environmental, economic, racial, gender and transformative justice in the community. In her free time she loves to sing, dance, and teach a community self-defense and wellness class for queer and trans people of color.
Jed Walsh Jed Walsh is a young adult transgender Friend who has been living in Seattle since 2013. After attending Meeting for Worship for the first time as a high school student, he was moved both to become active in youth movements against the Iraq war and to begin passionately identifying a Quaker. Jed is a member of University Friends Meeting. Since moving to Seattle, he has been part of a grassroots movement to oppose the construction of a new youth jail in the city. His heart is fed by prison abolitionists, anarchism, Quaker mentors, working with kids, writing poetry, and his connection to his incredible queer and transgender communities.
