Ending the Cycle of Generational Poverty
On Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 7pm, Kirby Jones, Pastor of the Williams Grove Baptist Church, will visit Raleigh Friends Meeting to tell us of his work at the Daniel Center for Math and Science, a STEM based after school program for children in southeast Raleigh. Six-and-a-half years ago, he launched the school to "actually bring the children out of the cycle of generational poverty." This non-profit organization provides year-round STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathmateics) education enhancement for at risk and economically disadvantaged children, ages kindergarten through 12th grade. Its program is housed within the framework of a licensed after school and full day summer/track out child care center.
