Renovation: discussion of energy systems and environmental issues

This information session is the culmination of work done over the past year by B&G and its ad hoc Environmental Working Group in consultation with several engineers and other professionals to explore green building options and help us determine which mechanical systems will give us good outcomes in terms of comfort, saving energy, and ongoing operation and maintenance.
Due to the complexity of this information, we have prepared an overview that describes the recommendations for improvements that have resulted from our consultations, discussions and ongoing discernment. There is also a chart that sets out some basic facts about two HVAC systems that are under consideration. We hope these comparisons will help inform the Meeting about the choices that need to be made.
We encourage you to read the below materials prior to the meeting on June 7 and to join us with your questions, concerns, and perspective on these critical matters.
Safety issues and making the Meetinghouse a safer place have taken on more urgency since the pandemic. Renovation plans related to improving building ventilation, providing custodial facilities, reducing congestion, enlarging and upgrading tight bathroom spaces, FDS classrooms and social spaces . . .
There’s a lot to consider. The corona virus has changed everything.
The way we live. The way we worship. The way we think about the future.
How will we respond and adapt? How will we support each other and sustain our community?
