Memphis Friends Meeting - Visitors Are Welcome

News & Announcements

During Meeting for Learning on 11/27, Denny offered three queries for worship sharing:

  • Do I live in thankful awareness of Friends and other people in my life and do I express my gratitude to them?
  • How do we connect to others through gratitude?
  • How can we connect gratitude and the Quaker spices (Simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship/sustainability) to improve our community?

She also shared how two articles had helped shape her queries:

Denny convened a meeting on Sunday September 11 for a friendly conversation about awakening First Day School from its hiatus during the pandemic.  There were 7 adults and 2 children under three years old in person and approximately 3 adults, and one 12 year old on zoom. Some Friends have been involved with First Day School for a long time, and others are new to the meeting.

The after photos are starting to roll in. In the case of the first photo, it was taken AFTER the cousins had eaten their fill.

We're hoping to see some colorful "after photos" of the Nativity Scene cookies. Thank you to Susan and Denny for baking and delivering the kits!

A longstanding MFM Christmas tradition is for the children to decorate nativity scene cookies. This year, some Christmas cookie elves are planning to bake small sets of the cookies and deliver them along with frosting kits to children who want to participate. If you are a MFM family with children or in-town grandchildren, you should be hearing from a member of the First Day School committee soon. If you don't hear from us, please reach out - memphisfriendsmeeting@gmail.com - and we'll work out the details with you!

Recently Jean posted in our FB group the video of Yusuf/Cat Stevens singing along to his new book Peace Train. And now the book has been donated to the First Day School collection, in memory of Jeanne's sister. Remember that you can check out First Day School books by logging them in the checkout book on the desk in the meetinghouse library.
